If you think that your credit score is elusive now, note well that we have only recently gotten access to our scores. Prior to 2000, there was literally no consumer access to this information. Thanks to our government, regulation of credit scores and credit screening has come a long way. Not long ago, your zip code, race, gender, age and sperm count were fair game in determining your credit worthiness, ripe with opportunity for discriminatory behavior. Hard to imagine that the system was more fucked up than it is currently. Guns are involved now so I’ll let you decide for yourselves who had it worse.
